This is a really well organized data base. EWG collects data and actually does their own research as well. Problem with the data base is that they cannot guarantee that lowest hazard rating means the products are safe. This is due to the problem with a lack of research on most chemicals. Some of the botanical ingredients have moderate hazard ratings due to concern they have been contaminated by other harmful substances. So, I have determined you have to figure out what hazards you are willing to risk and the low hazard rating is the best they can do for now until more research is available. It is better to have this information than none.
