You do not have to be head over heels for cloth diapers and compost bins to join up, but it would be great if you are open minded. This is a great place to share ideas about being a 'green' parent of the 21st century, to make some friends, and of course, have some fun! We will try to have meetups on the weekends so that the whole family can come.

I own a Children’s Orchard store in San Juan Capistrano and through this I have come to meet thousands of moms. I chat all day about just about anything. The green subject has been coming up lately because of some personal experiences in my life. My son and daughter both have ADD and I have a very good friend who was recently diagnosed and treated for cancer. I began to become more conscious of the foods that I was feeding my family. I started looking for artificial colors and flavors in food since this can sometimes cause the ADD to be worse. I have been making changes probably weekly to remove plastics, reduce paper consumption, buy organic foods, discontinue using cleaning products with harmful chemicals. What I have learned the most over the past year is that there are so many moms out there who really do want to make a difference and make better choices for their families, they just don’t know where to start. I think there is pressure (especially in OC) to be the best at everything so many moms just give up, they think that it is black and white, that you have to be all or nothing. I think the most important thing is to just go one step at a time and do your research ahead of time before you make a change. Not all things being marketed green are truly good for you!
